Hurricane Season begins on June 1, 2020, and runs through the end of November of this year. To help residents prepare for this year’s storm season, the City of Tallahassee will be hosting a hurricane preparedness webinar today, May 28, 2020, from 5:30 p.m.-7:00 p.m., and June 11, 2020, at the same time.

As part of the city’s Neighborhood Plan for Readiness and Emergency Preparedness, or PREP program, the online workshop will focus on teaching attendees about safety steps for their home, crucial supplies to have on hand for the storm season, and resources that people can utilize before and after a storm. Typically, this workshop is held in person 2 times a year, but due to COVID-19 concerns, they are being held virtually. The webinar will highlight location-specific plans and supplies that residents can benefit from.

With the PREP program, together with the City of Tallahassee, residents can create a solid and efficient disaster recovery plan to keep their families and homes safe. “Citizens play a vital role in surviving and recovering from a disaster,” the city noted. The PREP program works to help residents create a “coordinated response to disaster recovery activities.”

Registration to the webinar is not required, but encouraged, and can be completed, here. You can share with friends and family, and RSVP to today’s webinar on Facebook, here, and the June 11, 2020 webinar, here.
