On May 20, 2020, our capital city was named one of the WalletHub’s 100 Best For A Staycation This Summer. Tallahassee earned its spot as #11 for the best city for a staycation this summer on the website’s 100 Best And 10 Worst Cities. WalletHub is a is a personal finance website that was founded in 2013 that focuses on reviews for financial advisors. This list ranks cities in the United States according to their overall wallet-friendliness and the amount of entertainment it provides.
For this study, 182 cities were analyzed against 15 metrics to determine which 100 cities would best suit a staycation this summer. These metrics included miles of bike lanes, average price of food items, summer weather quality, and the amount of parks per capita.
Rest and relaxation were the 2 categories that determined which cities made the list as well. Each city was also given a ranking according to their “rest and relaxation” and “recreation” ranking as well, with Tallahassee earning an overall score of 59.13, 9 in recreation, and 88 in rest and relaxation.
Meanwhile, 2 other Florida cities made it on this year’s list. Tampa earned the #3 spot on the list, followed by Orlando at #10. You can view the entire list of the 2020 best and worst cities for a staycation this summer, here.
