TALLAHASSEE, Fla — On September 23, 2020, the Tallahassee Greek Food Festival announced that this year’s 2-day long event was canceled amid COVID-19 concerns. Hosted annually by Holy Mother of God Greek Orthodox Church, this year would have marked the 36th festival.
“We are completely devastated, but this decision was made with the health and safety of our community in mind,” the hosts said via a Facebook post.
The event, which is hosted on site by HMOG, which is located at 1645 Phillips Rd, is typically filled with traditional Greek desserts, meals, sides, and more, music, art, shopping, and more. Stopping by the yearly event allowed the Tallahassee community to “immerse yourself in the history and tradition of Greece right here.”
The festival is already making plans to host next year’s event a bit earlier in the year, saying, “we are working on a date for early in 2021, as hopefully COVID-19 cases decrease and we can serve the community delicious Greek food and warm hospitality.”
