TLC’s newest show, “Welcome to Plathville,” which follows the Plath family, who resides in rural Georgia and “have never had a soda, don’t know who Spiderman or Tom Brady is, and have never watched TV,” debuted on November 5, 2019, and featured our capital city in their first episode.

In this episode, 16-year-old Moriah Plath needed a new dress for her “professional life” as a photography assistant, so she, her brother Ethan, and her sister-in-law, Olivia, headed down to Tallahassee to Narcissus to shop.

“This is actually kind of fun because I don’t normally shop in boutiques,” said Moriah. “It’s my first time being in one, I think,” admitted Ethan. He continued, “There’s lots of interesting stuff I’ve never seen before.” A case of sunglasses caught his eye, and he found some that he “had to try on.” Viewing an array of Narcissus brand earrings, Olivia noted, “I would wear these.” The family typically shopped at consignment shops or wore handmade clothing during their childhood.

Later in the episode, Moriah tried on a number of Narcissus dresses, and chose a dress that reminded her of one she wore when she was younger. “It was a memorable experience working with part of the Plath family here at Narcissus. From having an entire camera crew inside our store to Moriah finding her perfect dress, seeing Narcissus on a television show is something we are sure to remember!” Narcissus says.

The Plath family is a family of 11, consisting of 9 children and headed up by Barry and Kim Plath, a transportation planner who has worked out of Tallahassee at a private firm, and a naturopathic doctor who works out of her home office, respectively.

This episode is available to stream online, here.

  1. I’m really enjoying the design and layout of your site. It’s a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more pleasant for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Excellent work!
