On Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m.-12:00 p.m., Tallahassee residents can learn how to “become a lifesaver” and undergo Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training at the Donald L. Tucker Civic Center at their 9th annual Press the Chest training session. This free, educational training event will cover the skills that it takes to properly perform CPR via hands-on instruction.

With registration beginning at 9 a.m. this Saturday, event attendees can learn how to perform life-saving procedures like C-A-B (Compressions-Airway-Breathing). Leon County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel will be running this training session, using information from the American Heart Association to teach. Instruction on how to operate Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) will also be given.

While not a CPR certifying course, this training session will teach vital life-saving skills and will equip attendees with knowledge that can truly be life-changing. Each participant of the Press the Chest training session will receive an American Heart Association“CPR Anytime” kit to help teach others what they learned.

Press the Chest is hosted alongside Florida State Medical Response Unit, FSU University Health Services, Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, Capital Regional Medical Center, FAMU Student Health Services, Brian Barnard Flooring America,  Florida Department of Health in Leon County, and the TCC EMS Program, and you can register for this event here.
